About 50% of type 1 diabetics also have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. (Insufficient production of digestive enzymes in the pancreas) So do I. This was discovered in the spring of 2018 and I started taking pancreatin (porcine pancreatic enzyme). My blood sugar levels have dropped dramatically as a result. I can only recommend having this examined (stool examination). I also take lactic acid bacteria (probiotics), which complement pancreatin very sensibly. Update: Since November 2019 I have been replacing pancreatin with herbal digestive enzymes, which works just as well and is more comfortable for me. |
